Nikki blushed. "Thanks. But, if you keep flattering me, my head is going to inflate, and I will look like an alien, having a huge head and a normal body."

*laughs*
And then I might have to actually start believing in aliens!

"You don't? Because, there are more stars than imaginable out there, and more planets than that! If you don't believe life is somewhere out there... that's almost like saying life here is some random mistake, or that we are the victim of some crazy alignment that made it possible."

*chuckles* Well, I do think it's entirely possible, to be honest. But I like to see the proof in things before I put much stock in them.

"I guess that makes sense. But there are so many things we just have to believe in. Like magic. We know we have it, but why doesn't everyone? What is it made of? How does it work. We take it, not for granted, but something like that."

[I am in a slightly philosophical mood... and Nikki now is. ]

Yes, true. But we can see the result of our magic - the proof is in the spellwork, in the feeling that we call magic... We have to believe in magic because it affects us and we affect it.

"Yeah, that makes sense. It only takes a few minor modifications of that logic to make it fit love and God, and yet people can't believe in those." Nikki blushed. "I am getting so philosophical... it makes me feel smart." She giggled. "Don't you think it would be interesting to try to mesh physics and magic?"

[That is the one thing I really wish magic was around for. I think trying to study magic, and how it can break every law of physics is so interesting, and I want to find out why. More than the 'it is magic' excuse.]

[I kind of wish we had more on that in the books, yeah! It would be awesome!]

*Hermione nods thoughtfully* I think trying to mesh physics and magic would be fascinating. I've always wondered how it would be done though. I think it'd be such a challenging area to study!

"I know. The Time-turner has to make use of some physics stuff, maybe String Theory. I hate to admit it, but I am not well-read enough on that subject to say anything more."

Hmm, I've not read as much on String Theory as I'd have liked. Maybe I'll add that to the - oh Merlin, is that the time!? I'm sorry, I've really got to go. Um, we'll talk again soon, though. We need to plan our Summer home - slash - box and bench fort after all!

Nikki smiled. "Okay, see you later!" She waved good bye as Hermione rushed off. She cuddled herself into her chair, and continued to read.

*waves and lugs her heavy bag full of books off*

Katie walked in and saw Nikki sat on her own. "Hey Nikki," she went and sat with her.

"Katie!" Carefully marking her page with a finger, she jumped up and gave Katie a hug. "How are you?"

[Is this after you have the Oliver realization?]

"Im.... doing okay. I think I just decided ot break up with Oliver actually..."

Nikki pulled Katie down into the chair next to her. "What? Why?"

[Other than the fact he is an asshole...]

"He was never there for me you know. Always at matches and I dont want to be with someone who doesnt treat our relationship right [OR HIS FRIENDS]" Katie sighed. She would miss him. But he wasn't what she needed right now.

"Plus, There is someone out there for all of us right?" [AND THERE IS YOU OPENING FOR DEBATE. SHARE YOU VIEWWSSS]

"I think it is more that we all have the capability to find someone. I mean, there are so many people in the world, it takes more effort not to find someone than to find someone." She shrugged. "Did I tell you Fred and I are dating? It isn't like SOULMATES! But we both that if we work hard at our relationship," she trailed off, blushing. "It isn't that I love him, yet, but who knows what can grow from anything."

"Thanks amazing Nikki! Well done...But if you dont think you are soulmates should you be together?"

"But how do you know you aren't soul-mates? Isn't it silly to expect something to happen with no work? We work for everything, why should love be any different?"

That is true... I believe that you belong to one special person. But if somethings worth having, its worth fighting for.

Lily strode in, crossing quickly to a small table by a window, staring at the table and rubbing her temples.

Sev...he's always been there for me. Always. I thought it was just...him being a good friend. Never thought...i'm such an idiot. How could I miss it? He'd called be beautiful, admired my eyes...said I was perfect. I thought those were just kind words, i'd known him so long! All these years...how long has he felt this way, I wonder? Loved me. Loved ME, Lily Evans! His best friend. I probably said that enough times to tear his heart apart.
Ok, Lily, FOCUS. You can't let him sit with this, he probably thinks he's insulted me, with the level of self-confidence he has! What would I SAY..I don't know how I feel! I mean...he's been there for me. Through everything. Anything. No wonder he hated James, and even Viktor. They stole away from him, even though I was never his..his anything but friend. Stupid Lily. Stupid, stupid, stupid me. It's not like i'd be repulsed by him or anything! He's my BEST FRIEND! He's got such wonderful long hair, no matter what James said about it. He's not muscular like Viktor...but he's not quite a stick either. Just lean I suppose. And those eyes...dark pools I could nearly get lost in. It's not like i've got any reason NOT to...return his feelings. I guess I just never thought about it. He was a presence by me, support, a friend. I hate to even think it, but I suppose I took him for granted. How do I think about him now? He's more than Severus Snape. He's a brilliant student, a friend though thick and thin, he admires me and cares about all of me. He'd defend me, protect me...and has! I can't believe I missed it. She smiled slightly. [i]More than that. I care about him. I see that now. More than compliments and kindness and defense of me...he cares, so much. And I care about him...I truly do. He's more than just Severus Snape, or Sev. He's my Sev."

Her thoughts drifted off, and the smile faded gradually due to her scattered, still surprised mind. Her eyes stared at the sky above her, lost in thought.

Lily decided she was still, despite her moderately calmer thoughts, quite restless. She stood up and began looking though books, ending up in a more unused row of books, though she could still see most of the library.
