Re: The Library
*Hermione continues to read comfortably. Why could Harry and Ron never have been like this back in the old days? Just occasionally?*
So what year are you Nikki? I'm certain I haven't seen you in any of my classes, so I'm assuming not seventh?

"Sixth. One year before NEWTs. How horrible is seventh year?" Nikki looked nervous. "Is it absolutely terrible?"

No, it's actually not as bad as I thought if would be. Of course, it helps if you're organised - I try to keep to my study schedule as best I can. I'm sure you'll be fine *reassuring smile*

Re: The Library
I colour-code my study schedules too! I once tried to use a pie chart method, but it was just too big to carry around all day, so now I stick with a simple colour-coded timetable.

"Besides, when things are color coded, they look nice. It took me thirty minutes to find colors I liked. My favorite classes get sparkles." She giggled. "Besides, colors make me happy."

*whispers, because it feels kind of scandalous to be bad-mouthing a Professor... except Trelawney, of course, that old fraud doesn't count.*
Ugh, I really wish they would retire him. It's a travesty, what he does to such a wonderful subject as history!

Nikki feels guilty, but nods. "I know! And no one pays attention. History can be repeated if no one knows about it."

Re: The Library
*She knows she shouldn't be gossiping about the curriculum like this, but it's such a relief to find someone so like-minded that she can't stop herself.*
I know - so much we need to know, so much we can learn from the past, and all everyone does is sleep through it! It's awful. And it's a travesty that some people prefer Divination of all things to History, because it's more interesting. What a load of tripe!

Re: The Library
*sighs*
I know. It's depressing, really. Oh, have you come across any good books on Dark Creatures by any chance? I'm doing an extra credit assignment, but there doesn't seem to be too much in the Library. I'm hoping I just haven't looked in the right spots, but I'm starting to suspect there's too little literature on Dark Creatures in here...

Re: The Library
"I tend to avoid those books, as they are usually biased. it could be really cool to use Muggle books, and compare the reality of the creature to the Muggle interpretation. And connect it to the policies of each region." Nikki trailed off, thinking.

[okies, see you]
Yes, I hate how what little there is is disgustingly biased and prejudiced, but unfortunately I can't find anything else so I have no choice but to read the garbage and try and find a few kernels of truth in it. You're right - looking from a Muggle perspective could be interesting! Thanks...

Padma walks quietly into the library, her new Muggle book that Nikki had loaned her - "The Fellowship of the Ring" - in tow, and sits down at a table.

Yeah... *she blushes at the thought of actually telling her parents about her year so far* And half the time I can't even think of what to write anyway.

Re: The Library
Me too... *suddenly feels really guilty about how out of the loop she's left her parents, but figures they'll be pleased to know she's not risking her life and limb on a regular basis this year at least.* And I guess at least a letter is less awkward than actually having to talk to them face to face about some things.
