The Kitchens

Arthur appreciates all of Molly's sweet little gestures; it makes him feel special, like Molly actually likes him (which Teresa knows, but Arthur is too thick to realize). At Molly's compliment, Arthur gently places his fork full of apple onto his plate. He sits up a little straighter, blushing and smiling happily. "Thanks," he says, grinning brightly as he does a happy dance in his head.

When Arthur stops and puts his fork down, for a moment Molly worries that she's said something wrong, or he's had enough and he's leaving, but then he smiles and thanks her and she grins back. "You're welcome." She finishes her baked apple and the last of her glass of wine. She fiddles with her spoon, just watching Arthur, for once not overcome by the need to hear the sound of her own voice chattering, or to be in a constant flurry of action. Somehow, she gets slower when she's spending time with Arthur, and it's nice.

Arthur finishes his apple and extends his arm across the table, gently grabbing Molly's hands like the Muggle men did in all those comedic romances. Normally, Arthur is bothered by the silence, but it's comfortable when he's with Molly; it's amazing how she can similtaneously make him a nervous, blubbering wreck and a calm, happy adult. It's like he's with his family, except more special, because it's Molly. He gently picks up Molly's right hand and kisses it, still carefully holding her other hand.

-Molly-

Molly stops playing with the spoon and lets it clink against the plate as she drops it so that Arthur can more easily hold her hands. She smiles as he picks up her hand and kisses it. "I must have done something really, like, amazing in a past life or whatever," she finally decides, because she can't quite remember ever doing anything to deserve the way Arthur looks at her.

"I must have done something wonderful too," Arthur says, the song "Something Good" from the Muggle movie The Sound of Music playing in his head. He doesn't know what he did to deserve Molly, but thinks that the universe must really like him. He leans in to gently kiss Molly, closing his eyes and gently parting his lips.

-Molly-
Molly smiles and leans eagerly into the kiss, having to stand up a little to reach. She braces her hand on the tabletop to steady herself and lets her own lips part along with Arthur's. One of her hands is still caught in his and she squeezes it gently, memorising the feel of warm skin on hers.

Arthur slowly stands up, moving closer to Molly. He gently places one hand on her waist to stead her, the other still entwined with Molly's. He deepens the kiss. Everything around her smells beautiful; he can smell her flowery shampoo, the food she had been preparing all day. It's comforting, warm, and exciting, kissing Molly.

Molly's eyes are still closed and she blindly follows Arthur's movements closer to her, her position seeming to adjust to his presence with easy familiarity. She rests her free hand on his chest, breathing in deeply as if she takes in enough of the scent and the taste of Arthur, the memory will be that much more real when the date is over. Not that she wants to think about such things as the date ending, so she pushes that firmly to the back of her mind and lets every thought and care in the world float away.

Arthur doesn't like the idea of the date ending either; if he had a choice, he'd never stop going out on dates with Molly. He is never as happy as he is when he's alone with Molly. He slowly moves his hand up Molly's side, letting it rest on the side of her face. He gently twirls a strand of her hair, slowly combing his hand through the silky strands.

Molly just thinks her life would be really neat if it was just one long date with Arthur. She has, in fact, completely forgotten that she is in the kitchens, and that this may not be the wisest or most comfortable possible place for a make-out session, she is far too distracted by the hand moving up her side, over her cheek, and into her hair. It feels strangely wonderful, having someone else play with her hair when usually nobody would dare touch, and she returns the favour by moving her own slim fingers up to wind through Arthur's hair.

Arthur has also forgotten that he's in a kitchen, but he wouldn't mind if he did remember; he's currently seeing the world through Molly-colored glasses and everything is blissfully perfect. He continues to play with her hair as he gently removes his other hand from Molly's and places it carefully on her waist, gently caressing her side.

Suddenly finding herself with a free hand, Molly moves it towards Arthur's shoulder. Her hand slides over the angular bones and around his back, the fingers starting to play with the hair at the base of his skull. She shuffles her feet a couple of steps closer, increasing the contact between them a little and giving her short arms more room to move and hold onto Arthur. She sighs contentedly into the kiss.

Arthur gently tilts his head, giving himself a better angle toward Molly's face. He gently moves his free hand to her upper back, gently tracing his fingers along her shoulder bone. He notices that Molly moves closer to him, making him feel more relaxed. He sighes happily as Molly plays with his hair, leaning in a little closer to her.

Molly smiles a little into the kiss, feeling Arthur's hand move to her upper back and his face tilting towards a better angle. Her own face responds automatically and moves perfectly against his -Merlin, it's wild, how they seem to just fit like this, Molly has never met anyone who is her perfect fit before- and her fingers tighten in his hair. She wonders if he can feel her heartbeat hammering away against him, but she doesn't want to let go long enough to ask.

Arthur does feel Molly's gentle heartbeat; he wonders if Molly can tell that his own heart is beating rapidly in his chest. Arthur likes the word fit to describe them; it feels so natural, just the two of them - it's like all the pieces of a puzzle finally came together. He continues to weave his hand deeper into her hair as his other hand gently caresses her beautiful face. What did he do to deserve such an amazing person as Molly?

Molly can indeed feel Arthur's heartbeat and she likes the way it seems to make a rhythm when combined with her own. Nothing in the world could ever compare to the soft touch of Arthur's hand to her flushed cheek. She deliberates a moment -how necessary is oxygen, really?- and finally forces herself to break the kiss to breathe. Molly doesn't move back, though, she stays as close as she possibly can without crawling out of her own body and into Arthur's, and lets her nose graze playfully against Arthur's. Her bright eyes hungrily take in all the details of his face.

Arthur is partially relieved when Molly breaks the kiss; he likes his oxygen and is glad for the opportunity to truly appreciate Molly's beauty. He opens his eyes slowly, taking in Molly's face. He smiles nervously yet happily, and he laughes quietly when Molly's nose touches his. He brushes her hair out of her face, gently touching the skin behind her ear. His other hand moves to her waist, where it seems to fit perfectly.

-Molly-

Molly giggles along as Arthur laughs quietly and scrunches up her nose in a playful way. She stays still for a few seconds longer, enjoying the comfortable position of being all wrapped up in Arthur and watching his smiling face. Eventually, she sighs. "So I guess we should, like, think about those dishes," she says, although she doesn't move.

"Yeah, I guess so," Arthur says, glaring at the sink. He sort of moves toward the sink, still holding Molly; he isn't ready to let his girlfriend go quite yet. He gives Molly another gentle kiss before slowly moving over to the sink, one of his hands still intwined with Molly's. He begins to wash dishes one-handedly, splashing water all over himself in the process. He could use his other hand, but he feels that it is much better suited as it currently is.

Molly giggles and obediently trails along with Arthur as he refuses to let go of her hand. She laughs even harder as he begins splashing water about somewhat ineffectively in his attempts at one-handed dish-washing. "Here," she giggles, and holds the plates steady with her own free hand so he can wash them one at a time without having to let go of her hand. "I'm, like, a genius," she gloats.

Arthur giggles along with Molly, for he really does look ridiculous washing dishes one hand. He smiles as Molly begins to help him; who knew that doing the dishes could be this much fun? "Thanks," he says happily, continuing to wash a large pot Molly is holding. He is still splashing water every where; with or without both hand, Arthur isn't the neatest dish washer.

Molly giggles again, wrinkling her nose slightly as Arthur's splashing about drenches the front of her clothes. She doesn't mind, it's not like it's doing any damage, it's just a bit of a squicky feeling. "We make, like, the best team," she comments after they've managed to successfully (if messily) wash a handful of things.

"We do," Arthur says, turning to face Molly. They did do a pretty good job with the dishes, much better than Arthur would on his own. "Thanks for your help. You didn't have to, you know," Arthur says. Well, he did drag her to the sink with him, but he wasn't thinking she'd actually help him.

Molly does a one-shouldered shrug with her free arm. "That's alright! I wasn't about to just, like, stand around doing nothing when you've only got one hand," she tells him. She's never really been one to just let others do all the work for her. "Besides," she giggles, looking at the water splashed everywhere, "Imagine how much worse the mess would be if I didn't!"

Arthur laughes. "I might have pulled a Moaning Myrtle on you and flooded the kitchen. She did offer to share her u-bend with Billy once," Arthur says. Arthur likes Molly's independence, how strong she is. "And the only reason I have one hand is because you have the other. Not that I mind, of course. I think it's happier with yours." He smiles brightly and winks.
