*Hermione, who gets the note just as she is coming out of Charms, makes a quick detour to pick up Kiora because she can't stand being without her a minute longer than she has to, and heads straight for the Hospital Wing. Besides, Kiora has the slightest hint of a runny nose, and it can't hurt to have Joel check her out, right? She chews her lip, a little worried even though Viktor's note said nothing was wrong. After all, since when did Viktor Fucking Krum need the Hospital Wing???*

*She slips in quietly.*

Hey, Viktor, I got y - Merlin, what happened?

Viktor turns when he hears Mya walks in and smiles. "Hey. It's Reg. He OD'd last night...He's fine now though. Just resting," he says quietly, still holding Reg's hand in a loving way for Mya to see.

*Hermione gasps before she can stop herself. Merlin, drugs, alcohol, kids running off to get married and having kids of their own - WHO IS IN CHARGE HERE???? Her sharp eyes do not miss the gentle, protective way Viktor's hand grasps Regulus Black's, and she hopes with all her heart that something good can come of this. Moving closer, she shifts the baby to one side so she can drop a kiss on the top of Viktor's head.*

I'm so sorry. You must've been terrified...

"I vas, but everything's fine now. He promised to stop. No more drugs," he says as he looks back at Reg and smiles.

*Hermione smiles and hopes that's true. Of course, she imagines something of this magnitude might just be enough to scare Regulus straight. Well, clearly not straight, because the kid's as gay as a maypole, but, well, clean at least.*

I'm glad to hear that. Oh, before I forget, is Joel around? I thought I'd get him to give Kiora a check-up while I was here. You know -*she winks*- give me an excuse to loiter around and hang out with you...

Viktor's smile fades and he looks down at Reg's hand in his. "Joel's...gone."

*Hermione is dense. She has baby brain. It's a wonder she even gets through her classes anymore. It's a good thing nobody here actually goes to any classes.*

Gone? Oh, has he gone to get dinner or something? I suppose I'll just wait until he gets back, then. No worries.

"No. Gone. He and Dijinn. Last night. To save Reg," he says quietly. "He's not coming back." He looks up at her with sad eyes.

[NOOOOOO I HAVE TO GO AND I WON'T BE BACK UNTIL TOMORROW! SOO... PAUSE. BYEEE!]

*It's the sad look in Viktor's eyes that finally gets through to Hermione, and makes her translate the word 'gone' into 'dead'. She wilts a little, holding the baby close and willing herself to stay upright.*

Oh..... oh, no. That's terrible. Well, I don't mean that. I mean, it's wonderful that he saved Regulus and I'm so glad he's going to be ok, and it's such a Joel/Djinn thing to do, isn't it? Really, I should've known he'd do something like this someday but I just can't believe he's gone! I thought he'd always be around - you know he saved Kiora's life? When I first fell pregnant and got thrown down the stairs... I might not even be here if it wasn't for him, and Kiora definitely wouldn't and I know I bought him all that tea but I don't feel like I ever really got the chance to properly thank him and now he'll never know....

*Eventually she has to breathe.*

Must have been before I came here," he says quietly. "I just vish I had a chance to thank him... I don't know vot I vould have done if I lost Reg."
