*Hermione drifts in and out of wakefulness. She's dead exhausted, but she can't help it - she wants to spend every second she can with her family already. She's thrilled that the cub is so quiet. Lifting her head a little, she presses a kiss to Remus' cheek.*

It seems we have a pretty quiet baby so far.... let's see if it holds. So I kind of don't remember a whole lot - it was all a bit overwhelming... Was I screaming a lot? I felt like I was... my throat definitely feels like it was...

Remus nodded in agreement. "Let's hope [gender] continues to be quiet. We'll be needing lots of rest, and it'll help if the baby sleeps through the night. And...well, yeah. You screamed quite a bit, said a lot of fun things. Nothing too unpleasant."

*Eyebrows raised, Hermione reaches for the water jug and glass on the bedside table. She pours a glass and takes a few sips, the cool liquid soothing her throat. She doesn't have the heart to tell Remus there's no effing way in hell a newborn is going to sleep through the night for them. Poor boy, she'll let him cling to that dream while he can... at least he has the Marauders' dorm to escape to.*

Fun things? Dare I ask? It was all so sudden and too long at the same time.... now it's almost a blur. One minute I was chatting amongst the apples, next I was screeching my lungs out with Fabian Prewett's hands up my skirt... Oh. Awkward. So very awkward...

*She spends some more time staring at her child in its father's arms and smiling - she wants to hold the baby again, but she doesn't want to interrupt this picture, it's too perfect. She runs a finger down the side of Remus' face, then down the baby's.*

Hmmm... I'm sure [Cub] inherited your nose. Lucky baby...

Remus wrinkled his nose. "Eh, it's just a nose. Nothing special. At least [Cub] got your eyes. They're so pretty." He'd been so distracted by everything else that he hadn't thought to check yet if the werewolf condition had been passed on. He was afraid to check but knew he should. They'd need to know. The baby smelled mostly human, but there were obviously slight hints of werewolf. His eyes welled with tears of relief. The baby wouldn't be a werewolf, it'd just have the heightened senses he had. Thank goodness. He wanted to tell Hermione, but he was a bit too choked up to say anything. He kissed the sleeping baby gently on the forehead and smiled.

*She shrugs lightly*

I happen to think you have a wonderful nose, and so does our child. It's a perfect little nose, in fact.

*She watches with wide eyes as he seems to be checking the baby over, with all his senses. It's only when he's lifted the little bundle in his arms to kiss it that she realizes there's tears in his eyes.*

He'd been slightly caught up in his thoughts and looked up at her startled. "What? Oh..." He smiled warmly down at the baby. "[Cub]'s not...[gender]'s isn't a...I just checked..." He bit his lip, too choked up to continue.

*She lifts her exhausted arms - why the bloody hell are her arms exhausted!? Oh, right, all the clenching and hand crushing and flailing... - and wraps them around Remus' shoulders, mindful not to disturb the baby. Tears of relief gather in the corners of her eyes.*

I knew it. I knew the cub would be ok... [Gender]'s completely perfect, anyone could see that just by looking at [gender]

Remus rested his head gently against hers. He felt so much better now, knowing the baby wasn't going to totally be like him. "You were right, thank goodness. And [gender] really is perfect."
