Lily's Tree by the Lake

Lily made her way down the castle grounds, a smile on her face as the wind tugged at her hair and the sun warmed her skin and made her red hair shine. She eagerly sat in the shade beside her favorite tree, after laying out a simple blanket. Now, she could stop squinting and see clearly, her green eyes watching the reflection on the lake before she turned to pulling out some art supplies and started sketching the view.

She'd found it peaceful recently, though she hadn't seen Sev, and thankfully not Potter either. She'd gotten a lot of reading done, and managed to keep up on homework and everything as well...it was nice to sit and relax outside though.

A note hits Lily in the back of the head.

[HAH. PEACEFUL. AT HOGWARTS. THAT'S FUNNY]

James had gone outside, half hoping to find Snape, half hoping to find Lily. He found the later and gave a triumphant grin. "Evans!" he yelled across to her. He had already sort of convinced himself Lily hadn't broken up with him at all, just got a little emotional when he came back.

[hey Lily! just so you know I already put you in Girls' Dorm One so you, me and Fleur could stay together. We have Ange and Katie with us as well ]

[Awesome Hermione. and WAIT...I thought the RP had started over? O.o or was that just the non-Marauder stuff...>_> I'll reply like it was all but the Marauder stuff.]

She picked up the note, and groaned, mentally thanking Sirius while wondering how much time she had to hide, then Lily heard her name and recognized the voice. Potter...what does he think he's doing here? With that tone, it's not to beg forgiveness. She wondered if she should cast a spell to keep him away, but settled for just ignoring him. Now, she could easily remember why she hated the fool. That arrogant tone of voice, the cocky demeanor...his presence infuriated her, it was all she could do to be civil and not curse him or flee.

[Jeez. Harsh.]

James reached Lily, a little out of breath because had jogged across the grass to her. "Hey, Evans. Gonna ask someone to that dance coming up?" He tried and failed not to preen too much.

[we decided starting over was too hard so we pretty much picked up where we left off anyway. there was NO freakin way Remus and I could go through that break-up again! Anything you specifically want carried over just has to go into the Daily Reel. PS I propose much chocolate and comiseration between Hermione & Lily because boys suck!]

[Hermione: I agree. Lily and Hermione can hang out together, it'll be awesome. James: I'll post that we're working from post breakup thing. Also, is it a Sadie Hawkins style dance too? If so...epic confidence + fail on James's part.

Lily gritted her teeth and folded her sketchbook closed as she stared across the lake, refusing to look at him. "Yes, actually. Not that it's any of your business anyway, and I wasn't planning on asking you either.

Of course Evans was going to ask him. James grinned as if Lily were just making a joke. "Cool," he sat down next to her and look over her shoulder. "Whatcha drawing?"

[I can just imagine James being all "Lily's so going to ask me to the dance" and just not getting it that she's not. And then finally she says something he understands and it just completely bursts is bubble and he looks like a sad little puppy... aww...]

Facepalm. James is such an idiot.

Lily rolled her eyes, any remnant of her earlier smile wiped off her face by James's appearance, as she shoved her sketchbook in her bag. She hugged it close to her, her gaze not moving from the lake. "None of your business, Potter."

[I would love for Ron or Fred, if they're still dateless (only because she wouldn't want James to kill Sev if she asked him in front of James), to show up...she'd totally ask one of them again...mostly because Fred is awesome, and going with Ron still would be very interesting. Either way, that would get the idea across the James...maybe, ]

"Fine, fine," James said mildly, still grinning that infuriating grin. "Whatever you say, Evans..."

Sirius quickly writes a note and drops it next to James.

APOLOGIZE!!

[Fred's taken, but Ron appears single]

James glanced at the note, then frowned. Apologize for what?

[of course Hermione might beat you to him...]
