Neville's Secret Garden

[Dean is smirking like a fool right now..]

"Ummm, I don't know. Would you want to be something scary? Or something cute?" He asked and thought for a moment. "If you picked scary you could be like a weed, and if you wanted something cute you could be like, a muffin." He said, not meaing muffin in a sexual way at all.

Hannah laughed, "How would someone dress up as a muffin? That sounds pretty difficult. I don't know, I'm sure I'll think of something. There's still, like, a week."

"You could get like a..I don't know." He said and shrugged. "I am sure you will find the perfect outfit and it will be absolutely perfect and amazing."

Neville walked down here with Audrey and stepped through the little gate. He set Mimbly down and looked around his garden to see how everything was doing, there was one weed off in the corner, and that's it. "Well, here we are." He said, looking at her and smiling.

Audrey smiled as she walked in, "This place is so great! So can you show me where everything is?" She put her bag on the swing and started to walk through the rows with him admiring how neat it all was.

"Yeah!" He said, grinning at her as he followed her through the rows. "Right here are the Pineapples!" he said, grinning and pointing. "Looks like those three will be ready in just a few days." he said pointing to three of them. "Then I've got some cucumbers growing on the other side of the pineapples." He said pointing. "I just planted those the other day so they probably won't be ready for a while." He said as he continued to walk down the aisle, pointing out the strawberries, tomatoes, potatoes, peppers, basil, bush zucchini, onions, lettuce, and cabbage.

Oh..Okay. I was soo confused haha XD

She looked around at all of the incredible things he was growing, "This is incredible, the hours of work you've obviously put into this really shows." She kept walking around for a bit, occasionally stopping to examine a plant, "Do you have anything that isn't edible here?"

"Nope." He said shaking his head. "The non-edible stuff all grows in the greenhouses." He said, looking around for weeds. "It tends to grow better in there, for some reason the potion and charms don't work as well on the non-edible stuff."

She wrinkled her nose slightly, "That's odd. Do you have any of the potion or does the professor have it all? I wouldn't mind taking a look at it and possibly tweaking it." She wandered back to the swing as he worked, "So how much time do you spend down here each week?"

"Yeah, I've got some in the little shed over there." He said pointing to the little shed against the fence.



"It should be on the top shelf on the left." He said and then leaned down and pulled the one weed in the whole garden, but he continued looking through for more weeds. "I usually spend about 1 to 2 hours a day on average. Sometimes more if I have a lot of work to do."

She walked over to the shed and ventured into it, finding the potion relatively easily. It was nicely organized in there, she guessed that Neville was actually a pretty neat and tidy boy. That was a pleasant change. "Found it. So what happens to this place in winter?" She took the bottle back to the bench and pulled out her portable potions kit. "Mind if I take a bit of this?"

"No, Go ahead." He said and smiled at her and then walked over to where she was aver checking over the whole garden for weeds. "Professor Sprout puts a little shield thing on it for me every year. Some spell she knows." he says nodding. "It doesn't completely keep the cold weather out but when it snows it keeps the snow out." He said and sat down on the swing next to her. "So I can keep most stuff alive during the winter, usually I lose a few crops though." he said and sighed sadly, because he always found it sad when he lost a crop.

Audrey poured some of the potion onto a petri dish and then a little more into a couple of test tubes. Sealing them all up she closed the bottle and tucked it back in the shed. "Thanks for that. It's a pity you have to lose anything really." Already her mind was racing with possibilities for the potion, things that could be added if they weren't present and likely ingredients that could be causing the problems.

"Yeah." he said nodding. "I just hate losing any crops." He said and sighed. "It makes me feel like I failed at giving them life, ya know?" He said and looked around at the garden, trying to see if he saw anything he needed to fix.

"I understand exactly what you mean. So do you change up your crops at all or do you keep re-growing the same things?" She gently set the swing moving with her feet.

"I usually change it up a little bit but not much." He said and nodded. "I'll go strawberries then once they are good I pick them, get the soil all fresh again and then grow something else." He said and picked his feet up off the ground as she set the swing. "So, I have 2 cycles I keep doing." he said and looked over at her and smiled. He felt..different around Audrey, a good different, he could talk to her almost like how he could talk to Dean and Hannah and he wasn't usually like that around pretty girls, usually he felt awkward and weird but not around her.

Audrey looked around at the garden again. "It's incredibly peaceful around here. Normally I don't like coming out to the grounds because everyone is out here mucking around but this is nice." She relaxed back into the swing, slowly rocking it and happily inhaling the sweet fresh air. Neville was great company.

He nodded. "Yeah, I agree. It's a lot better being here rather then being out where everyone else is. People don't usually venture out here so it's nice and quiet." He said and relaxed into the swing when he realized the garden was looking good. "I like the quiet a lot."

Audrey smiled at him and pulled her feet up to sit cross legged on the swing. "Me too. So tell me more about yourself. What do you do during the summers?"

"Well, I usually go home and stay at my Grandmums house." he said and smiled at her. "And then I visit my parents too a lot during the summer." he said, not planning on going into great detail about visiting them with her. "I have another garden there too that I take care of during the Holidays and my Grandmum, she likes gardening too, she is the one who really got me into gardening. Well, She takes care of it when I am here at school."
