The Owlery

...

Caradoc wanders up to the owlery, holding a letter and tying it to the leg of a pretty owl that I'll name on the spot soon.

Fabian is here with a letter (GASP!) for his parents. He sees Caradoc and offers a big smile, noting that he wasn't familiar with this guy. "Why, hullo there!" He said, making his way to his owl.

"Hey, 'sup?" he said, smiling as his owl flew away. "Don't think I've met you yet. Not that I've met much of anybody yet, given that I just got here. I'm Caradoc, you can call me Rad," he said, offering his hand out in greeting as he totally checks out Fabian in a very obvious manner. "Nice to meet you," he added with a wide grin. Hey! Don't blame the guy! He's only met Gideon, and he's straight!

Fabian returns the handshake and shrugs off the fact that Caradoc just totally checked him out. After all, Fabian Prewett was a sexy individual. "Oh, are you new here? I mean, you don't really seem like you're from around here," he said, referring to Caradoc's accent. "I'm Fabian. Fabian Prewett." He smiled.

"Another Prewett? I think I've already met your brother and sister. Er, the older sister, anyway, the smaller but older one," he says with a friendly smile. "Yeah, I just transferred here from America. New Jersey," he added.

Fabian sighed. "Oh, Gideon and Molly? I apologize for them, you know, if they've caused any scarring--mental or physical." He runs his fingers through his hair. "New Jersey? Huh, I'm afraid I've never heard of it... Although, then again, I suck with countries and states and cities and all that junk. So, how're you liking Hogwarts?"

"Scarring? None yet, I'm glad to say. They seem like awesome people," he said, watching Fabian's fingers as they run through his gorgeous hair. "I'd say Hogwarts seems pretty damn awesome right about now," he said with a grin. "At least, the people seem cool. Can't say I know much about the school itself, yet. Maybe you could show me around," he suggested, totally thinking about the other things he would rather Fabian be showing him.

Fabian nodded, oblivious to Caradoc's inner thoughts. "Sure. I mean, I've been here seven years, so odds are that I know my way around pretty well. I'd be happy with showing you around." He paused as he attached the letter to his owl's leg. "Hey, do they have a Wizarding School in America? Or where did you go to school?" He asked.

"Yeah, of course they do. But I got bored of things there, and I just wanted to get away from home. And I finally made enough money at my job to pay for myself to move here, so, I did, obviously. Though, I haven't done much exploring yet. What's there to do around here, Fabian?" he asked, liking the way the other man's name rolled off his tongue.

Fabian thought for a moment. "Well, I guess it depends on who you hang out with. I mean, there are those silly book things that you can read, or there's those people who wreak havoc, or those people who get drunk or high, or those people who go around picking up girls, or there's Quidditch..." He trailed off. "I suppose it sorta depends on what you like to do. I mean, are you the Quidditch-jock type, or more of the book type?" He asked.

"I'd say I fit in just well with the kind of people who wreak havoc, get drunk and high, play quidditch, though you'd never find me picking up girls," he said with a snort of laughter and a wink. "So I guess I'm closer to the quidditch-jock type, though I was considered more of a skater guy back at home. How about you, Fabian? What do you like to do for fun?" Caradoc thinks of many fun things he can introduce Fabian to...

Fabian sits himself on a ledge and crosses his arms casually. "Really? You seem like the type to go gallivanting around, looking for girls. No offense or anything, of course," he said, the possibility of Rad being gay not even crossing his mind. He mulls the question over for a moment before answering. "Well, I like spending time with my friends, I suppose. And my family, as they're rather important to me." He thought a bit more before smirking. "I like breathing. And eating. And bathing is pretty nice, too, I suppose. You know, not burning alive is pretty nice, as well. How about you?"

Caradoc fights back a laugh as he looks at Fabian, shaking his head. "I agree, not burning alive is pretty sweet. And I do seem the type, don't I? I do indeed go gallivanting around, but not for ladies," he said with a shrug, and when Fabian still looks blank, he sighs and decideds to just explain, because Fabian seems kind of slow. "I find myself spenidng my time picking up guys," he said bluntly with a smile. "And eating, of course, is a wonderful thing. Along with breathing and bathing. Aren't you exciting?" he teased.

Fabian is a bit surprised at this knowledge and nods. "Oh, well I wasn't expecting that," he says with a shrug. "And I'm a very exciting individual. I've been known to give people heart attacks from excitement with my mere presence." He pauses. "Well, not really, of course. I mean, I'm pretty sure if I went around giving people heart attacks then I'd be in court or something. Unless they don't charge for those things. Do they? I wouldn't really know, being a good citizen and all." He rambled. "Although I do particularly enjoy eating. You said you met Molly, yes? She's a great cook."

Caradoc shrugged. "Yeah, it suprirses most people. I guess it comes with being manly and all, they seem to expect every gay guy to prance about in heels," he said with a laugh. "I tend to leave the dressing in drag to my boyfriends," he said, looking rather bored listening to Fabian talk. He seems nice, but he would rather Fabian stopped talking, and started actually being exciting. He has no idea how this guy is Alice's brother, if he likes being a good citizen. "Right. Being a good citizen. I don't think I'm familiar with that concept, I think I'm more of a public menace," he joked, "I've heard she's a great baker, actually, your brother Gideon mentioned that she makes great special cookies," he said with a grin.

Fabian nods because heels are simply just the most fashionable and perfect things in the world, so if a man wants to prance about in them with some self-respect and dignity, then Fabian won't ever question it. "Public menace, eh?" He repeats with a slight smirk. "I can respect that. [OMG I WAS JUST TYPING THAT AND THE COMMERCIAL SAID 'I CAN RESPECT THAT' JUST AS I HAD THE 'THA' OF 'THAT TYPED. FUNNY STUFF.] And she's great. Better than my mum, although I don't think that's saying much. My mum makes good cookies, though--perfect to break windows and such. They're like bricks." He toys with the ends of his hair and crosses his legs. "I've heard Molly makes awesome Special Cookies, but I've never had one. Gid's her favorite brother, you see, and Ali can get away with the whole pouty-puppy dog eyes thing but Cissa is never awake in the early mornings, so there's only 3/4 of the Prewetts there to get high unless I want to empty my wallet to get a Special Cookie, I really don't have access to them." He sighs. "What good are sisters if they don't make you Special Cookies... or Brownies, or Cupcakes?"

Caradoc laughed and nodded. "Well, according to Gideon, I might be able to convince Molly to spare me a few yummies, given my turning into a heroic savior this morning due to an unruly and rather rude hippogriff, who wouldn't stop staring. It kind of freaked us out," he laughed. "If I can get some off of her, I'll be sure to share, Fabian, though one would think her brother would have better luck with that. I have to say, your entire family is kind of awesome," he said with a grin, deciding he liked the Prewetts, even if this one was a bit boring.

Fabian quirked his eyebrows. "Saved her life already?" He asked. After all, any male that wasn't a threat to his sisters was on his 'okay' list. "I'm impressed. Saving my sister's life from a clearly dangerous hippogriff and offering me Special treats? I'd say you were in my good book." He flashed Caradoc a smile [because Jared Padalecki's smile is absolutely gorgeous] and flipped his hair. FABIAN'S FIRST 2.0 HAIR FLIP, LIKE OH EM GEE. "Are we now? I mean, it's safe to say that everyone at Hogwarts knows us and wants to be us, but I didn't know we were awesome. Have you met Alice yet?"

"I have! I think she might be my new best friend. We have so much in common, really. We've got plans to wrestle the giant squid tomorrow, after she buys a helmet, of course. She said she needed it for bungee jumping anyway," he said with a grin, his face lighting up at the mention of Alice. "She said we might be twins, only different ages. I'm not sure what that means, but I was also slightly baked at the time, to be honest," he laughed. "She's really awesome!"

Fabian was happy to hear that Caradoc and Alice had become fast friends. "That's great! I'm glad she has so many friends already!" Se smiled before turning frighteningly serious. "So I trust you to keep an eye on her so no men man-handle her or steal her virginity, etcetera? You know, just to be safe. Brotherly instinct and all."

Caradoc pauses, then phrases his words very carefully. "I promise I shall do my best to make sure no harm comes to her, and no man man-handles her without her explicit permission, and I shall ensure that no one steals her virginity," he says, because he has promised Alice sex lessons, and intends to let her put them to good use, after all. If she's gonna be gettin' dirty anyway, she needs SOME guidance, after all, and her brothers clearly aren't giving it to her. "Pure brotherly instinct, of course." Yeah. Because when I'm a big brother, I'll not be stupid and preach abstinence, because really, abstinence gets you nowhere with a horny sexy teenager.

Fabian smiles, accepting Caradoc's oath. Caradoc seemed to be a good guy--well, good enough, anyways. "Are you a brother?" He asks, because he doesn't really recall Caradoc mentioning anything about his family. "Or do my actions seem completely irrational and stupid?" He smirked.

"No, I don't have any siblings, it's just me and my mom. Tiny family, I know," he said with a smile. "I guess I have all these inner brotherly urges because I have no release for them. I really should be careful before I go around adopting siblings. I think I told Molly I have knight-in-shining-armor complex. I seem to find myself rescuing damsels in distress on a regular basis, see? I am convinced I have a gallant knight for an ancestor or something, it cannot be helped! I shall someday be a great savior, see? It's part of why I'm aspiring to be an auror, so perhaps someday I might perchance do some actual heroic deeds, instead of rescuing perfectly safe girls from mostly harmless hippogriffs that are still extremely intimidating and can peck your head off when you bow."

Cissa feels like this should be a fucking stupendous post because she made Eowyn wait so long, but you see it really wasn't her fault because she didn't see that the button was red and she's just kind of a fail these past few days and feels really, really, really super awful and she doesn't mean to be rude or to ignore Carabian but she's just a bad poster and Fabian is weird and she just kind of wants to curl into a ball and mope for a bit. Or maybe sleep, but whatever. So, I think I mean to just say sorry and I don't even know why that was all in third person and ohmygoodness my hand and foot hurt but my nails are short so I can't scratch them. Well, I can, but they are very unsatisfactory scratches. Don't you hate that? When it doesn't really scratch all the way and you're left itchy and in pain? Or does that only happen to me?

"Oh, but I think that what you did was, in fact, a very heroic deed. You see, without you... Why, Molly could be completely without a head, which would be just tragic. And although it would mean quieter days at home, I think it'd be very distressing to have a headless sister. Nearly Headless Nick would be completely envious, though, so I guess that's a plus." He said, as if reassuring Caradoc that what he did was important. Fabian wasn't really sure why Caradoc would need reassuring, especially with that massive ego of his, but whatever. "Being that you're a knight in shining armor, do you have a white horse, or a steed--or whatever it is you call it? Sir Caradoc has a nice ring to it, after all. Even if you will be an Auror and therefore won't need to be called 'Sir Caradoc', it still sounds cool."
