Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA] Empty Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]

Post  Walden Macnair September 3rd 2011, 1:49 am

Macnair stalked in, his black robes on now and his boots leaving dirty prints on the floor of the hall. Pushing his way past a group of small second year Puffs, he sat down at the end of the Slytherin table, pulling the plates towards him and picking out some steak, potatoes and a mix of vegetables. Reaching across he picked up the jug of pumpkin juice and poured it into his glass. Looking down the table he saw the younger years gathering in groups. Rolling his eyes he turned back to his own plate. In his year he had a few friends and they obviously all stuck together, presenting a complete front to the other houses, but the majority of the time he preferred to be alone, left with his thoughts.

Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA] Empty Re: Slytherin Table [FREE ROLE PLAY AREA]

Violet wandered in, still in a grand mood from the train ride in and all the hellos in the hallways going on, though only about six of them had been directed toward her if she cared to count them. And all but one of those had been from professors, but that was of no matter. This year she was going to change that. Wandering down the Slytherin table, she tried to find someone familiar to sit with, maybe Andromeda who she'd met at the ice cream place this summer, or perhaps Adelia. But a smile spread across her face as her eyes settled on a boy sitting by himself at the end, and she slipped around behind him and sat quickly beside him. "Hello, Walden Macnair," she chirped, starting to load up her plate with mostly the sweet things, like the sweet potatoes with marshmallows or rolls with honey or anything with fruit on it.

Walden felt someone walk behind him and glance over as someone sat behind him. When she said his name he knew who it was, she was the only person who ever used his first name let alone his full name. Looking over at her fully he nodded, "Hello Emily." Turning back to his food he sliced up a piece of steak and piled it up with some of the mash potatoes, "So how was the remainder of your summer?" He faced her as he ate his food, watching her.

Violet continued to load up her plate and promptly started eating, only when she realized there wasn't room for any more baked cinnamon apples on it. She also ignored the fact that he called her Emily, and managed to at least attempt to hide the little growl that formed in the back of her throat. "It was lovely. Went back to Diagon Alley most days and managed to hide from you it seems. Wandered about Muggle London a bit as well. Got these," she said, sticking her arm out for him to see a couple new bracelets on her wrist, glaringly bright teal and purple. She pulled her hand back again and continued eating, not really looking at him because her food was much more intriguing right now, and because she'd have bet a whole galleon that the fact that he was staring her down and she wasn't even glancing at him was most likely driving him mad.

When would Emily like her galleon because her not looking back at him was indeed frustrating. He stared at the bands as she waved them in his face, vaguely disturbed by the colour and the sheer number of the rubbery things she had on her arm. "Why do you litter your arms with those things?" Part of the question was about the quantity but also he couldn't understand the colours. Not only were there more of them than he could name but none of them seemed like they should be paired together. Then again her fashion choices weren't any of his business as long as they didn't affect his life.

If Walden Macnair could just slip it over to her all covert like, that'd be great. Thanks. New, polished, uncirculated, if you please. "It's not littering it's collecting and I have reasons entirely my own that you are not privy to." She silenced the rest of her explanation by eating a rather impressively large bite of sweet potato, and her gaze remained across the great hall, not on Walden Macnair. "So, Walden Macnair. What did you do with the remainder of your summer, since you weren't busy stalking me anymore?"

Walden had turned back to his own food in the silence and took his time chewing and swallowing his mouthful before replying to her. "I worked. Which I believe you said you were going to do the last time we met?" He wondered if she knew what sort of work he had done. Though he had seen her at meetings, recognizing her as one of the recruits who had to attend without a mask, he was now a full member and thus wore one of the standard white masks whenever they met.

"Oh, yes. I did a bit of that randomly, but they didn't really need me all that often. Mostly just early morning shifts when no one else wanted to. It was quite boring. Not many wizards are keen on waking up at six to shop for potions supplies, you see." She finally turned to look at him, pondering over his expression as if it were the most interesting thing she had ever seen in her entire life.

"If most wizards aren't up then why is the shop open? Can't the wizards who are bothered to get up just come by at a later time?" He was actually surprised at himself, talking to her like this. Normally by this point he would have either ignored the person until they departed or gotten up and left. It would have depended how much food he had left on his plate. Reaching forward he poured himself more juice and offered her some.

Violet nodded and watched him pour her juice with a shrug. "I don't know. The man who owns it wants it open at a very specific time and demands that it be open, even if no one comes by, or if it's only one or two people. It makes for a long morning of sitting there and flicking newt eyes across the shop, seeing how far they bounce when they rebound off the window." She took a sip of her juice. "For the record, I once made one bounce off three of the four walls. It would have made it back around to the fourth, but the kitten swatted it."

Macnair was vaguely interested until she mentioned a kitten. Lowering his fork slightly he looked at her properly again, "Kitten?" Perhaps it wasn't what he thought it was, "Does the apothecary owner have one?" If there was anything he liked less in the world that cats it would have to be Hufflepuffs but it was a close call and some days cats even beat out the marshmallows.

Violet shook her head. "No, no. But work was terribly lonely being the only soul about, so he said it was alright if I brought her along." She shrugged as if it were the most normal thing, because it is. Cats were one of the allowed pets that first years could bring with them, right? So why shouldn't she have one? The little kitten had been a new present to herself for the start of her seventh year. A library exploration friend, if you will.

"Her? So the thing is yours?" His eyes immediately flicked over her robes, scanning them for cat fur and finding a few tell tale flecks of grey. He suppressed a shiver and turned back to his food. Why of all the bloody pets in the world did she get a cat? Why not an owl? Where was the practicality of owning a cat? Then again, he looked at her bracelets from the corner of his eye, she was not the most practical of people.

"Yeah. I found her. Or, she sort of found me. Let herself in through my window, she did." Violet laughed. And also she does try and at least not go anywhere if she's covered in cat hair, and if there is any, it is certainly there by accident. "Tiny thing."

If Macnair knew what a microwave was then he would have plans for the 'tiny thing' but unfortunately, or fortunately depending on whose side you take in this debate, he doesn't. Letting out a non-commital noise he refocused on his meal. This was what he got for talking to someone, now she would probably want to show him the little beast and he would have to remember that throwing other people's property is not a good idea.

"Left her with a friend for now." Violet shrugged yet again, sensing that Walden Macnair didn't seem too pleased with the situation. "You don't like cats, do you?" She laughed, nudging him with her knee. "Honestly relax. It's not like I'm going to pull her out of my pocket and insist you cuddle. You need to learn to loosen up, Walden Macnair." She reached over and wrapped her thin fingers around his, pulling his grip from the steak knife he was holding. "And you might want to put that down while you think about kittens."

He looked over at her when she wrapped her fingers around his and raised an eyebrow, putting the knife down on the plate and extracting her hand from his grip. She, oddly enough, seemed perfectly comfortable touching him like this, nudging him with her knee and taking his knife from him. The even stranger part was that he didn't mind it either, letting her make him release the knife when for most people he would have turned it around and sliced them with it for just assuming to touch him like that. Unsure how he felt about this he reached forward and picked up his glass, draining the last of his juice. "Well Emily this has been an interesting evening. I'll see you around." Standing up he took one last look at her before turning around and walking straight out of the hall and down a shortcut passage to the common room and his bed.

Violet kept her eyes on him from the moment he sat his knife down on. She wasn't sure what to make of it, but was sure that he probably felt the same way and that must have been why he left like he did. She found it amusing really, calling out of after him. "Goodbye, Walden Macnair." She finished off her plate before she too left, heading down to find a few new books to curl up in the corner with until late into the evening.

Post  Andromeda Black September 4th 2011, 4:33 am

Andromeda walked into the Great Hall, nodding politely at the first year Slytherin who opened the door for her. She found an empty seat at the table and sat down. She placed a few pieces of fruit and a small spoonful of eggs on her plate. She pulled out her textbook and began to read about the various types of sleeping potions. She was not expecting to see anyone at breakfast. Not that she wouldn't mind someone to talk to; there was only so much a person could read about sleeping potions without falling asleep themselves.
