Smirking up at her Draco poked her in the thigh, “You might fight back but you will never ever be able to kick my ass. Well literally maybe your foot could hit my behind but in the way you mean it that would never happen.” He made a face as she roughed up his hair, smoothing it out then roughing it up again. It was interesting looking up at Pansy like this, he didn’t think anyone else saw the things he did. Like that little freckle where her jawbone met the right side of her neck and the small scar under her chin that was barely noticeable unless you knew it was there or you put it there. He seemed to recall that that was an accident at the pool too. They really had been terribly accident prone as children, always trying to fix themselves then needing their parents to come bail them out with lectures and real magic. Draco turned his head, resting his cheek on her left knee and looked over at the gate and the pool house. It was almost as though this area was a separate world, one where no one would disturb them or reprimand them, where they could do whatever they wanted and be whoever they wanted without repercussions. That line of thought brought him back to last night and he sighed, trying to push it away and just enjoy the moment as best he could.

"Do you really doubt me so much? All those hours in the library weren't for nothing, Draco. You'd be surprised, I think, if it came down to it." She nodded resolutely, her hand dropping from his hair to his shoulder before returning to her lap. Her lips parted to ask him what he was staring at, but just as she was about to, he looked away, resting his cheek on her knee instead. Why couldn't it be this simple back at Hogwarts? Why couldn't they get along this perfectly all the time? It seemed that they were only able to get along like they always had when they were removed from everyone else in the world, and as much as Pansy would love to just stay alone with Draco forever, she knew it wasn't realistic. They would be going back to Hogwarts later today and things would probably go back to the way it had been before. Astoria would come sweeping in after Draco again and Pansy would disappear to the library again and everything would be horribly 'normal'. Pansy didn't like that version of normal. She liked the version she was in right now, the one where Draco's soft cheek was on her knee, the one where they could spend hours together without getting tired of each other or fighting or having awkward moments of tension or anything like that. It was so easy here in the hidden parts of the garden. The both of them were just sitting here, lost in their own thoughts, and though it was nice, it was terribly quiet and she didn't want to waste any of the time she had left to be alone with him. She lifted her leg a little, making his head bounce up, and she smiled at him. "Whatcha thinking about?"

Draco thought about all the time she'd spent studying and was sure that by now she would be able to fend for herself and fight off most light attackers. He was not like most light attackers. He'd spent the last summer, while she was gone, with his father, studying not only the family business as he'd claimed but also the family business. Slowly Lucius had been drawing Draco into the dark arts, teaching him spells of interest, mostly in they grey area of magic. Despite what Draco thought, Lucius knew him well, he also had people keeping tabs on his son, trusted friends like Leo Parkinson. What neither of the children knew was that whatever they told their parents about each other was relayed back to the other party. He was stirred from his thoughts of the past summer by her jiggling her leg. Looking up with his chin on her left knee, he saw her smiling and returned it half heartedly as she moved her hand and brushed his hair back again. "Last summer? Last night? Next year? Take your pick." He moved his hand up to stroke her side, "Enough with that, come on back into the water." He moved his head off her lap and put his hands around her waist, tugging gently to get her to join him.

Pansy doesn't like the word jiggling, because it makes her feel fat. But anyway, she stopped moving her leg up and down as he looked up at her, smiling down at him as he attempted a smile in return. She saw that it didn't go all the way through and knew his thoughts hadn't exactly been on happy things, maybe. She nodded when he said enough of that, agreeing completely, and she tried not to let her breath catch as his hands were on her again, his fingers tracing up and down her side. And before she could recompose herself from that, he had both hands on her waist, pulling at her lightly. Of course she gave in and lifted herself up off the side of the pool, slipping back into the water in front of Draco, not trying to slide against him as she did so, but he was close to the edge and so there wasn't much other room for her to go. "I wish we didn't have to go back to Hogwarts tonight. I wish we could just stay by the pool forever, and live in that pool house. It's like the rest of the world doesn't exist when we're in here, you know what I mean?" She smiled at him almost dreamily, as if this were a place where they were separated from everyone, their own dimension where time didn't pass. Pansy could only wish that was true.

Draco thinks Pansy should know that she’s not fat. If she were fat she wouldn’t be able to squeeze between him and the wall like she just did. As she spoke he imagined what she was saying, it really would be perfect. If the rest of the world would just leave them alone, leave them here in this sanctuary. He looked at her, standing between his arms smiling at him. What he would give to see this every day, just to be this content for a minute every day, that was all he wanted. Moving his gaze from her blissful smile to her eyes he felt his breath catch. It had been a long time since he’d see her this happy and right then he truly wished that they never had to leave this moment, never had to go back to school and put on their masks, never had to be what everyone expected ever again. Leaning his face forwards slightly he pressed his lips to her, not deepening the kiss, just relishing the feeling of her soft lips against his, inhaling her sweet smell. Subconsciously he made sure not to press Pansy into the wall, not to push against her, he wouldn’t ever want to hurt her and was still in inner turmoil over the last times. He moved his hands from resting on her waist to one around her shoulders, cushioning her against the side of the pool and the other running gently up and down her side.

Pansy was still smiling at him, though she wondered why he hadn't moved and why he was just watching her, smiling back at her. Not that she minded. He looked happy and it was a nice change... he was kissing her. Draco Malfoy was kissing her. She wasn't sure how to react, seeing as their previous kisses had all been quite different. The first one ending with her pushing him away and them storming off angrily. The other major one ending up with them on the floor and Draco undoing her bra. She pushed the thoughts away, just kissing him back gently, her hands at the surface of the water between them for a while before she finally cautiously put her hands on his shoulders, moving them to the back of his neck. She was a little nervous, wondering what this could possibly mean or wondering what if one of her parents wandered in or something, but they never came to the pool, even if she was out here, and she pushed away the questions of what this could mean. She'd asked him or wondered that too many times before and it never really ended too well. She wouldn't worry about that, she'd just enjoy this while she had it, just kiss him while she could before things turned sour again, as she was sure they probably would. She knew she shouldn't be kissing him now, setting herself up for another heartbreak the next time they'd get back to school and fight as was probably unavoidable, but she couldn't say no. She couldn't pull away or push him back from her. She was addicted to it, no matter how good or bad he might be for her. She moved her lips with his, her eyes closed and her mind slowly clearing.

Draco ignored everything that had happened between them before, that wasn’t what mattered. This was their chance to live in the moment and forget the past and the future, one of the last opportunities they’d get. When she moved her arms around his neck his hand stilled on her waist, slowly wrapping itself around her. He still did not deepen the kiss, gently moving his lips against hers, not pushing for anything more. Here with her Draco felt warm and happy, happy in a way he hadn’t felt for a long time. All of the emotions he had felt before their fights were rushing back to him, all of them and even more. Together with Pansy he felt like everything was right, he felt something he’d never felt before. She was close to the most important person in his life, the one he would do almost anything for. If he had to name the emotion… well all he could think was that it was love, or at least as close as he would ever get. Pressing his lips against hers slightly harder he moved his hand behind her shoulders to cup the back of her head.

Pansy was completely lost in the moment, and nothing else in the entire world even mattered or registered right now. All she knew was that she and Draco were getting along, better than getting along, and he was kissing her gently, sweetly, like he'd never done before. The first one was frustrated. That other time had been aggressive, heated. And though this one was admittedly rather passionate, it was soft, even as his hand came to rest on the back of her head it was gentle. She rested her back against the side of the pool, holding him close to her. She moved one hand to his hair, brushing it to the side as she kissed him, trailing her fingertips along his scalp before returning her hand to the back of his neck where it had been before. No matter what happened between them, she always wanted this, moments just like this one, when they were just Draco and just Pansy and they could throw away everything they thought about anything, forget their expectations and responsibilities and just be with each other. When they could kiss like this just as easily as they held a conversation while getting ready in the morning. It was so simple but nothing else could ever make Pansy this happy. No one else could. Draco held the sole ability to bring her to her lowest point and raise her to her ultimate happiness, and as she continued to move her lips steadily with his, she wouldn't do a thing in the world to change that fact.

Draco’s eyes slowly closed when she ran her fingers over his scalp, god that felt good. She knew him so well that sometimes it scared him, she knew exactly what he needed no matter how trivial it seemed. Slowly their lips were fusing themselves together, somehow this was more intense than either of their past kisses. This kiss was seductive and soulful, everything a kiss should be. He’d never felt so much kissing anyone else, even the last time he’d kissed her could never compare to this. He knew in his heart that it had to be love but his head was terrified at the thought. He couldn’t have a weakness like her, even before this she had been a means to get to him, to manipulate him. Now? Now it was possibly worse than ever and he had to make sure that no one knew, not even her. Moving his hand from the back of her hair to her shoulder again he pulled out of the kiss, resting his forehead against hers. Blinking lazily he smiled at her and gave her another soft kiss, running a finger over her cheek. The peace right now could not be disturbed. Nothing could ruin this moment, no matter what happened in the future this would remain a perfect memory, beautiful and happy. If Draco could produce a patronus this would be the memory he would use. Pulling back from the second kiss he looked into her eyes, they looked so beautiful at that moment, like they were in their own little world, showing him just how happy she truly was.

Pansy caught her breath as he pulled away, only a little disappointed that he did. She smiled in surprise when he followed it up with a second quick kiss, his finger tracing across her cheek. This was definitely her favorite trip out to the pool, the best way she'd ever spent a Hogsmeade weekend, even taking into account the terrors of last night. In her mind, it had been made up for. She stared back at him, for once not shy to lose herself in his silver eyes, unable to stop the smile that had spread across her face, even into her eyes. She was silent, as there was nothing quite worth saying after something like that. Her fingers played in his hair at the base of his neck. She'd never truly doubted it, though she'd tried to hate him for a little while, but she knew she was completely in love with Draco. She was hopeless when it came to him, but she was also realistic. She knew nothing would come of this, just because he'd kissed her. That's just how he was. He could kiss her but it could very well mean nothing other than he'd just felt like kissing her. Pansy hadn't forgotten about Astoria and the fights that had followed her entry into the scene unfortunately, and so she tried not to let her heart get too excited over this. In a last gutsy move, she leaned forward, pressing her lips to his again, just one more time before she stepped out from between Draco and the wall of the pool, slipping under water and gliding through the pool, weightless and completely happy with how her life was right now.

Draco’s smile widened as she played with the back of his hair, looking up at him as though there was no one else in the world. As she leaned in and gave him another kiss he let out a happy sigh. This was really the perfect day, even better in light of last night. As she dove under the water he turned to watch her. Her hair was floating around her head, the turquoise of her swimsuit like a beacon in the water. As she moved under the water he watched, the surface like glass. Each stroke was smooth and refined, she swam the same way she was in public: so composed and perfect, more powerful than expected. Standing where he was he felt the sun on his back, warming the small part of him that wasn’t submerged in the heated water. Leaning back against the side of the pool he watched her surface at the other end. Treading water she looked around then turned back to him. He grinned and dove under the water, swimming the length of the pool and grabbing her ankle. When she jerked her foot away he surfaced next to her with a splash, “Gotcha.”

She surfaced quietly, pushing her hair out of her face and turning to look back at Draco who was still smiling at her. She relaxed to tread water a while when he disappeared under the water, a moment later though she snapped to attention as his hand closed around her ankle. She pulled away from his grip, closing her eyes to the splash of water as he surfaced, though she still smiled at him. Pansy poked him in the stomach. "You think you're sneaky, huh?" She put her hands on his shoulders again, and though she mostly just wanted to kiss him again, she shoved him under the water before she took off across the length of the pool, on the surface at first but soon diving under the water. She preferred swimming that way, completely submerged as if she were in a separate world from the one she lived in day to day. She swam with strong strokes, closing the distance to the end of the pool quickly. She'd spent a lot of the summer swimming laps, especially toward the end of the summer when she didn't see Draco much, when he'd gotten busy 'learning the family business' and such with his father and couldn't come over much. She'd come out here alone and swam for hours on end, quite excited about the stamina she'd gained because of it, and the muscles it had helped her develop. She was still rather scrawny, but now she was much stronger than she looked, and she liked that feeling of a certain amount of secret power and strength. Once she reached the end of the pool, she turned over and kicked off the wall, floating back toward the deep end on her back, lazily sweeping her arms across the surface of the water, not worrying about where Draco was at the moment, which was probably not good as it only presented him with another opportunity to be sneaky.

Draco watched Pansy swim the length of the pool, powerful strokes propelling her through the water. She looked like a mermaid. Not one of the ones that lived in the lake, those were ugly bastards. She looked like the ones in those old children’s books, the ones with the delicate ink drawings that he wasn’t allowed to touch. The beautiful women with their hair creating a halo around their faces, their worlds bright and beautiful. As she surfaced again and pushed off towards him he sank below the surface. Now was the perfect moment for another sneak attack. Diving below the surface he took slow, steady strokes to reach her, rolling over as he did to look up at her back, the turquoise ties dangling above him. She really did let him get the jump on her too often, sometimes literally get the jump on her. It was a sign of trust between them that she didn’t mind not knowing where he was and that he could turn his back on her without having to fight an urge to glance over his shoulder time and time again. He knew that he had had trust issues since he was very young and though they’d never had a detailed conversation about it he’d always assumed she was the same way, not quite as extreme as him but still very untrusting of most. Pushing those thoughts aside he refocused his attention on the turquoise strings above him. Floating below her he made sure not to exhale any bubbles and then he struck. His arms wrapped around her waist and he dragged her down to join him underwater. As she opened her eyes to look at him he grinned, glad this wasn’t like muggle water with all that chlorine crap. Pulling her closer he gave her another kiss then pushed her down and swam off, heading off to the shallower end of the pool.

She should have known it was coming, but she was too happy just floating along to notice. Then suddenly his arms were around her waist and she had just enough time to gasp a quick breath of air before she was underwater, dragged down in his arms. She turned to face him, smirking amusedly at him, taken completely aback when he kissed her. Kiss number four today, actually. Reason number four that today was shaping up to be the best day she'd had in a long time. He shoved her down, but she kicked off the bottom of the pool to rocket after him. She caught up quickly and grabbed onto his ankle, pulling him back toward her and making him swim more toward the surface of the water. Avoiding his kicking feet, she swam under him, facing the surface to wave at him as she passed under him, twisting after she did so to race him toward the end of the pool. They reached the shallow end of the pool and she surfaced in front of him to catch her breath, pushing her hair back and twisting it all together over her shoulder. "I shouldn't trust you as much as I do." Her hands otherwise occupied, she nudged him with her hip instead. "Maybe one of these days I'll learn I should never turn my back on you."

Draco jumped as she grabbed his ankle and he pulled her along with him as he swam up. When she let go and darted past him he broke the surface then dove back under, chasing her down the pool. Standing up next to her he smiled at her as she bumped hips with him. Sliding an arm around her waist he held onto her as she wriggled, “No you won’t. You’ll always trust me like I trust you.” Draco smiled at her, he was in the perfect position to dunk her or throw her or really do whatever he wanted, but he didn’t. Instead he spun her in his arms and pulled her into a hug. He knew that no matter what happened in the future, even if they fought again, he would always trust her. She was the only person he thought he could ever say that about, especially considering his family. Draco didn’t think he would ever trust anyone like this, he knew he couldn’t believe half of what his father said, the man lied to everyone regardless of feelings. His mother rarely spoke to him but when she did it was never personal or particularly important. It was always some small detail about a social event or a piece of etiquette. Pansy was the one he turned to with his problems and she was the only one who had ever really cared. Resting his hand on her shoulder he pulled her closer and sat down on the pool steps, setting her in his lap.

Pansy beamed at him. "You know me too well for my own good." She knew she trusted him more than she could trust anyone else, even with their more violent fights in the back of her mind, she trusted him completely. He wouldn't do anything she didn't want, at least as far as it concerned her, which is why she didn't mind showering with him in the bathroom talking to her or anything like that. She trusted him, knew that if she told him to stop he would. She could let her walls down around Draco, a welcome relief from most other people she interacted with on a regular basis. She wrapped her arms around him as he hugged her, her chin resting just over his shoulder until she leaned back a little to look at him. He moved a hand to her shoulder and sat on the steps, pulling her along with him to sit in his lap. She eased down onto his lap, one arm wrapped around the back of his shoulders, her legs nicely on one side as she sat across his lap like a good girl would sit. She relaxed against his chest, sighing softly as she stared off at nothing in particular, the shade and slight breeze chilly on her damp skin though she had no intentions of moving from this spot unless he made her. Just like before, nothing else mattered but this moment and the fact that Pansy wished she could just press the pause button on life, or at least not have to go back to school tonight.

Settling back against the step so their legs were underwater he tightened his arms around her, resting his chin on her shoulder. He looked up at her then moved his gaze to where she was staring, just past the poolhouse? There wasn’t anything there so he assumed she was lost in her own thoughts. Thinking about their day so far brought another smile to Draco’s face. It wasn’t often that he had days like this, days when he could just cut back and relax, smile and not be judged for it. Looking up at the sun he noticed it had moved rather far since they’d arrived at the pool and where they were now sitting, bathed in sunlight, had been shady and dark. He couldn’t believe they’d been here for that long but at the same time he knew that time had carried on around them while they savoured each moment and now they had to play catch up. Draco sighed, he didn’t want to ruin the moment but he also didn’t want to be found out here like this by Pansy’s father. The man was scary and would most certainly jump to a conclusion, not that it would be a wrong one but it was something Draco would like to continue avoiding for as long as possible. Today had been amazing and everything he could have possibly hoped for, it had been the perfect drug to counter-act his nightmares and, though he still had no idea what he would do come Christmas, he had finally stopped worrying. Pressing a soft kiss to her shoulder he squeezed her waist slightly, “Pans, do you have any idea what time it is? Or what time we’re expected back?”

Pansy snapped back to attention as she felt his lips on her shoulder, asking what time it was. She glanced up at the sky, leaning back to try and locate the sun, only ending up flopping back into the water. Her hand gripped his shoulder lightly, keeping herself from slipping under as she floated on the top, still staring at the sky. "I guess it's just past lunch. Three maybe?" She shrugged. "Daddy won't come looking for us until at least six, and mum's out shopping until seven at least. So we're fine to stay here unless you're hungry." She sat up again, looking at him with a small crooked smile. "Which, knowing you, you probably are." Poking him in the stomach, memories of all their dinners together came flooding back, at the mountains of food which he'd been able to put away, all miraculously while still having time to lecture her on not eating enough or just tearing it into smaller pieces rather than actually consuming it. She wondered if there were still snacks in the pool house and figured it was probably worth checking out of they had to get out to find something to eat.

Draco slid a hand under the back of her neck as she flopped back and floated there. When she mentioned food he realized that he was indeed rather hungry. They hadn’t had breakfast after all and dinner the night before had not been that substantial. As far as he could remember they had hidden some food in the pool house… and it would save them from having to go all the way back up to the main house to get something to tide him over for the next three hours. Then again to fulfill that requirement he would probably need a meal. The best option was to see what they still had and decide on a plan of action then. Moving his other arm behind her knees he shifted his hand to behind her shoulders and stood up, eliciting a squeak from her. With a smirk he stepped out of the pool and headed for the pool house. “So is our secret stash of goodies still out here?” He stopped in front of the door and waited for her to open it so he could walk them inside.

He hadn't spoken up, so she wasn't sure if he was actually hungry or not, but as soon as he shifted her in his lap and stood up, depositing her there in the water, as she unfortunately made some kind of surprised undignified little squeak, she figured he was going after some food. She got up out of the pool, following him over toward the little pool house. At the door, she waited for him to lean over and put his hands together to give her a leg up, as was always required to find the hidden unlocking mechanism above the door that she could never quite reach properly. Stepping into his hands and jumping up slightly, hoping that her hips in his face wasn't too awkward, she reached over the small shelf above the door and pressed in the button, a click in the door below letting her know it had worked. She put her hand on his shoulder as she dropped back down to the ground. "Thanks." Turning the doorknob and pushing the door open slowly, Pansy peeked inside and proceeded slowly, careful to step over a few things that had fallen in the walkway since the last time they'd been in here. Opening a cabinet that was magically linked with an identical one in the kitchen of her house, she grinned. "Yep. Our snacks are still here! So what'll it be, Mr. Malfoy?"

Draco gave Pansy the required boost up to open the door, turning his head away nicely, as he’d always done, to make sure that he wasn’t getting a face-full of Pansy-butt. When he heard the click he put a hand on her hip to help her get down. Walking in after her he glanced around, remembering all the fun times they’d had in here, hiding from her parents while trying to fix each other up so they would be allowed back in the house. Shoving aside some old towels and pool toys that had fallen over in the hall he followed her into the kitchen. He stood behind her and peered over her, resting his head atop hers. “Hmm I don’t know. Maybe something sweet now, a type of dessert before dinner thing. ” Looking through the contents he wrapped his arms around her as he browsed. “What do you fancy? Oh! See that! I can’t believe the elves keep this stocked with all of my favourite things.” He let go of her and reached over her shoulder to grab a pot of nutella and some graham crackers. “Do you see any marshmallows there?” He opened another cupboard and pulled out some plates and knives. Putting everything on the table he walked over to the window and knocked it open, moving the curtains aside as well to let more light in.

If Pansy was feeling cheeky, she probably would have commented that they'd just made out in the pool and that she was pretty sure that was sweeter than whatever dessert they could make, and she probably would have just suggested they do that again instead. But alas, Pansy is wonderfully innocent and did not say such a thing. Her stomach leapt as he wrapped his arms around her, his bare chest on her bare back, and she tried not to think about it too much. She was almost relieved when he let go to grab some things from the cabinet, moving away from her. "Yeah, there's a few here. Dunno how old they are though." Tossing the bag at him, she headed over toward him and sat on the table, swinging one of her legs absentmindedly like she'd been known to do as a kid. As he opened the window, she pulled out the graham crackers and opened the bag of marshmallows, pulling a couple out and popping them into her mouth, you know, just to make sure they were still okay.

Draco sat down in the chair in front of her so that her legs were in front of him and held out his hand, “Marshmallow please. If they’re still good that is.” When she nodded at him he opened the pot of nutella and swiped his marshmallow thorough it. Putting it in his mouth he grinned as he savoured the taste of the nutty-chocolatey goodness. It was so hard to get the nutella at home, his father was very possessive of it for some odd reason so it was only ever a reward and Lucius didn’t reward Draco very often, especially not to the point where he would be given any of the precious nutella. Leaning forwards he dipped one of the graham crackers into the nutella and grabbed another marshmallow from the open bag. Smushing them between the nutella’d graham cracker and a plain one, he took a bite of the fake-s’more and groaned, “Mmm, it’s been so long since we’ve had these. Here,” he held it out for her to take a bite of the deliciousness. Back when they would spend the whole summer out here these snacks had been their go-to treats on a hot day.

As Draco sat down and asked for marshmallows, she dropped a few into his palm, nodding as she chewed hers to let him know they were still okay and hadn't gotten old or sticky or hard or anything. Pansy laughed as he started making their childhood snacks. They would eat so many of these out here in the pool house that they could only lay down in the sun and close their eyes and try to digest, much too full and tired and happy to do much else. And when they headed back up to the home for dinner they'd hardly be able to touch it. Well, at least Pansy was hardly able to touch it. Draco seemed to be a bottomless pit when it came to food. She leaned forward as he offered her a bite, attempting to not bite his fingers or end up with nutella oozing all over herself. She sat back and chewed, picking up the bag of marshmallows again. "I haven't made one of those in ages. Not since the last time we were hiding in here making them." Holding a marshmallow between her fingers, she squashed it while licking a bit of the nutella off her lower lip. She copied what he'd done a moment ago, dipping the marshmallow into the nutella, trying not to get it on her fingers, but of course it was easier said than done. "Aw, man." She ate the marshmallow, holding out her nutella dipped fingers afterwards as she glanced around for a napkin or something.
