Buffet Table

Neville snapped out of his little thing he had going on. "Oh, I wasn't looking for anyone in particular." he said as he jumped because he saw someone that was a blonde. Turned out to just be Bea. He sighed and smiled at Dean like he didn't just do that. "I was just looking, around." He says, trying to sound convincing.

"Riiiiight. Me too." He took another drink. "Okay. We need to liven things up a bit. Wanna go dance?" He pretty much knew the answer before he even asked, but he tried anyways. "We'll look pretty lame just standing here by ourselves."

Neville blinked at him. "We look lame?" He asked, now looking like a sad puppy.

Marietta edged into the great hall, uncomfortable with so many people and no books to protect her. She was making her way over to an out of the way bench when she noticed Neville, the boy she'd bumped into a few times while she was doing some extra credit research.

Dean patted Neville's shoulder. He nudged his head towards a girl that was coming their way. "Should we go meet her?"

"Oh, that's Mari." He said casually. He walked over to her and smiled. "Hi Mari. How are you?"

"Hi, Neville," she said, no louder than necessary to be heard over the pounding music. "Who's your, uh, friend?" she asked smiling over Nev's shoulder at Dean.

Dean held out his hand. "Hi, I'm Dean. Dean Thomas. Night to meet you." He smiled warmly.

"I'm Mari- er, Marietta," she responded, taking Dean's hand and shaking it quickly before drawing back. "The feeling's mutual," she said, with a small smile. She turned back to Neville, "It's nice to see you. I didn't think I'd see anyone worth talking to here," she admitted.

Demelza walked into the hall and saw Dean, whom she had met the day before, with a girl and a boy that she didn't know. She decided to go over to him and see how he was going. "Hi Dean. Do you remember me? We met yesterday."

Dean smiled at the newcomer. "Met yesterday?" He was already embarrassed. "Sorry, yesterday is kind of hazy..." He held out his hand. "We'll start over then. Hi! I'm Dean!" He smiled.

"Well its nice to meet you Dean. I'm Demelza. Who are these two people?" She asked looking towards the boy and girl he was talking with before she came over.

[Nev's computer restarted. They have a storm coming in so the power's a little wonky.]

Mari noticed a girl talking to Dean and was glad that she wasn't stealing Neville away from his friend.

"Well, this is my best bud Neville and this is Marietta?" He said her name as a question, making sure he pronounced it right.

Marietta Edgecombe wrote:"I'm Mari- er, Marietta," she responded, taking Dean's hand and shaking it quickly before drawing back. "The feeling's mutual," she said, with a small smile. "Yeah." Neville said with a smile, nodding. "I wasn't planning on coming but Dean talked me into it." He said and looked over at Demelza. "Hi." He said quietly.

Marietta nodded at Dean. "That's right. Hi," she said quietly. She turned back to Neville, "I'm actually not sure why I came. I figured I needed to get out of the library though," she said with a shrug.

He smiled at her and nodded. "Yeah, I was just in the dorm and Seamus was passed out and Dean needed someone to go with so here I am." He says with a sigh. "They have water." he said pointing to it awkwardly. "I am pretty sure the punch is spiked so I am staying away from it."

"Oh. Thanks for telling me. I've never drunk. I have no idea how it would affect me, but my guess would be not good," she said and reached over to get some water. "So what have you been up to since I saw you?" she asked.

"I don't drink either. Not since the time Dean and Seamus made me....That was not a fun night..." He said shaking his head. "Nothing really, Just been doing some gardening and helping Professor Sprout out in the Greenhouses." He says with a smile. "What about you?"

Demelza smiled at Neville and Marietta "Its nice to meet you both." She then stood there quietley because they seemed to be having their own conversation and she felt a bit out of place.

Dean gave Neville a little nod, and grinned at the pair of them. He turned his attention back to Demelza. "So, how are you? Sorry about yesterday...if I did anything stupid." He chuckled nervously.

"I'm pretty good. What about you? It seemed like you had had a few to drink last night and don't worry you didn't do anything that stupid. You skipped, danced, shouted "Gryffindor for the house cup!" and thought you could fly. Then you passed out near the entrance to the castle. So, you didn't really do anything that stupid." She told Dean.

"Mostly just the usual," she said with a shrug and a vague and gesture. "Reading, studying, researching for an extra credit report for Professor Binns' class. Did you know that the Chipping Clodburry Riot was a big setback for the Goblin Bill of Rights?" she asked, her eyes lighting up the way they do when she shares her information with people.

He laughed loudly as she recounted what he did. "Wow. Thought I could fly. That's a new one. Yeah, my buddy Seamus is having...a rough time. I wanted to help him have a good time. He's actually still passed out. And he calls himself an Irishman." He shook his head. "So, do you want anything to drink? There's punch and water over there if you want something."

Neville listened intently and shook his head. "No...I don't think I knew that." He said, kind of shocked that he didn't know that. He always paid attention in that class, how did he not know.
