The Fireplace

Severus quietly entered the common room, falling into his usual armchair by the fire. He gazed into the flames, ignoring the now-dried blood on his hands and robes. He didn't know what to think or do or say- all he seemed to be able to do right now was exist.

Severus finally left the common room and headed for his dormitory. He couldn't stand listening to the babbling third years, with their happy, care-free lives. He disappeared up the stairs.

Pansy wandered in, her right arm bandaged from shoulder to elbow and all around her right wrist and hand. Her left cheek was still cut up, but the blood had thankfully been cleaned up. At least from her face and arms, her robes were still stained with a mixture of her own and various donations from the other three. Too tired to head up to the dormitory, she collapsed into her chair by the fire, cradling her hurt arm carefully as she watched the flames dance.

She reached beneath her chair to pull out her charms book she kept stashed there, figuring she might as well read some while she was sitting here. She wondered where everyone else was. Probably at the lake having fun, if she knew them. Or causing drama. Either was a good guess.

Angel enters the main area of the Common room carrying Danni. "Hey, one of you girls wanna get her up to bed?" Places the passed out Danni on couch and heads to boys dormatory.

Pansy, obviously unable to be carrying anyone since she should probably be in the hospital wing, just watches the unfamiliar boy with one eyebrow lifted, incredulous. "Clearly not, dumbshit." she mumbled. Idiot. She threatened a third year to do it, and watched as she took Danni up to the dorm to put her to bed.


[Nothing personal, no offense intended. Pansy kinda hates a lot of people.]

Before he manages to disappear from sight he leaves a middle finger up for Pansy. "Sleep tight."

"Oh, you too," she muttered, closing her charms book. She thought about heading up to the dormitory, but didn't want to deal with everyone freaking out over her bandaged arm and all the cuts on her left cheek that were probably bleeding again. She still wondered where everyone was, but didn't worry about it too much. She hadn't see Dee or Tam all day, and Draco for a while longer. She hoped Severus was okay in the hospital wing, but knew Lily was probably still there watching him. He'd be fine. She sighed and curled up in her chair, falling asleep.

[PANSY!!!!! Tam wishes she had been there and currently hates me for not getting online!]

[Haha. Apparently no one loves Pansy enough to be like OMG what happened?]

*Tam wanders in* Pansy... what happened to you?

[I actually don't know.... please explain!]

Pansy woke up as someone spoke her name. She saw that it was Tam, and still hadn't decided if she was mad at her or sorry for her. She yawns, wincing as it hurt her cheek, and sat up carefully in her chair. "Hey Tam. There was a duel," she laughed. "So, naturally, I was there."

*Tam grinned at her* And I'm sure you won... *looks a little sheepish* Look Pansy, I'm not sure if you've heard, I think everyone has by now, but I'm pregnant. I just want you to know that I was going to tell you but Peter and I were trying to keep it pretty hush hush.... only Black ruined that for me... I am sorry that I didn't get to tell you in person, I really am.

Pansy took a deep breath before she answered. "You know, it's alright. It was just a little disappointing that I had to learn you were pregnant from Severus after Sirius attacked you, the jackass." She laughed and added, "We probably would've killed each other last night if it hadn't been for James and Severus knocked out on the floor. We must care more about our friends than killing each other. But I'm not done with that boy. Not by far."

Good, he deserves whatever you throw at him.... how's Severus? Is he okay?

She shrugged. "Fine I guess. He was knocked out in the hospital wing when I left last night, but I couldn't stay in there overnight. Not again." She checked the bandages on her arm and hand and saw that they'd kind of been soaked through. "Guess I'll have to go back at some point today for some new bandages. It's annoying waiting for them to heal. I'm impatient."

*Tam was just relieved that no one else had to spend the night in the hospital* What happened to your arm anyway?

"Sirius I think... or James. I can't remember, it was crazy." Pansy tries to lift up the bandages at her wrist and hand a little to peek under them, but can't really see anything.

Is it cut or what? *wishes she could have seen the duel*

"Yeah, he cut it all from from the shoulder to the inside of my elbow. My hand too. I couldn't use that hand much after that, but I found out I'm not too bad of a lefty-dueler," she laughed hard, only to find that her ribs were still sore. "Ow," she said leaning over to stop them from hurting.

*sighs* what else have you managed to injure?

Pansy smirks. "Do you mean on myself, or everything I caused last night? I have a few broken ribs... getting kicked will do that. James was still unconscious when I left, so I don't know about him. Sirius was apparently well enough to leave the hospital wing, but I don't know how far he got or how bad he's hurt."

Well I was thinking of you... but what did you do to James?

"It's all a blur..." she said, trying to think of everything that happened. She took a deep breath, and began the story.

"I was doused in water, and then I tied him up, they blew up a desk beside me, and he used expelliarmus. I had to run across some desks to get my wand back. I gouged out some of the floor and caught a lot of shit on fire. James tried to send knives flying at me, but I exploded them and sent shards back at him. Sirius started muggle-fighting like an idiot. Then I got stupefied and Sirius cut my wand hand. I had to switch to lefty. James locked my legs up, so I couldn't walk, but it didn't stop me from fighting back," she laughed, still trying to sort everything out in her mind.
"Sev imperio'd Sirius to attack James for a bit, and James cut my arm while I was distracted watching that. My legs were still locked and I fell on the ground. There was more fire and I finally broke the leg-lock. I sent some wind, James exploded a glass cabinet beside me and it cut my face and shoulder..."
Pansy narrowed her eyes, forcing herself to remember the rest of it.
"Sirius was attacking Severus, and he was going down. I froze Sirius, and then I crucio'd him."
She paused a moment, remembering it.
"James knocked my wand out of my hand, so Sirius got off easy. I kicked James, he kicked my wand, and I had to run and find it. Sirius punched me in the face, twice, and kicked me to the ground, and in the ribs, jackass, fighting like a filthy muggle. I threw James across the room, knocking him out for good. Sirius wouldn't let up, so I crucio'd him from the ground, but he kicked me in the face on the way down. I left him there writhing in pain and too Sev to the hospital wing as fast as I could. But not before kicking Sirius in the face with all I had left," she laughed. She shook her head at finally remembering all the events. Her mind was elsewhere during the fight. She'd only thought about fighting back and protecting and attacking. She'd amazed herself at how long she'd held off using crucio.
