The Courtyard

"Oh...right..that. It uh, kind of failed." He looked down at his feet. "I didn't give up, the castle just defeated me." He swung his feet a little awkwardly. "Besides, trees are more interesting anyways. They move and change colors and do a lot more interesting things."

Luna frowned. "Oh. Well, trees seem like they'd be fun to draw," she commented, though she really would have liked to see how his picture of the castle came out. "What else have you been drawing recently?"

Dean hated to lie to her, but this was just something he couldn't admit. "Oh. Um, just random things around the castle. Doodles of random people. Stuff like that. A couple of the lake from up on the Astronomy tower. There really are some excellent views up there." He nodded.

"Oh. Well, maybe one day I could go with you? I understand if you don't want me to, of course. It might be weird to have someone watch you draw...but I'd like to if you don't mind," she told him with a small, genuine smile.

He shook his head frantically. "No no no!! I would love for you to come sometime! I could make some sammiches to bring so you don't get bored. I sometimes zone out when I get into it." He smiled. "Or we could just pretend it was another study session." He laughed at their failed attempts at studying.

Luna grinned. She had always heard there was a rule about guys not making sammiches for girls, but Dean didn't seem to care, which was another thing she really liked about him. He wasn't like other guys. "Sammiches sound great, but I really doubt I'll get bored. I love watching you draw," she told him, smiling as she remembered the time he drew a portrait of her at the lake.

[WOAH!! WHY DIDN'T THIS SHOW UP!! *grrr face* I've been refreshing the page for like 15 mins and didn't see that you posted.]

Dean grinned even more. "I could always give you some lessons too! I mean, you're already a great painter, have you ever sketched before? It's really not that different I guess. Maybe we could draw something together!"

[Aww! D: *huggles*]

"Really?" She perked up at the idea of learning how to sketch. "Er- No, I've never tried. I've only done painting," she told Dean. "I'm not sure I'd be very good with a pencil, but I'd like to try it! You'd really teach me?"

Dean was getting almost giddy now. "I would love to! You'll do great! It's not that hard really. Plus, I'll give you the starters pencils, so you can always erase if you mess up anything. I think it will be fun! Then I won't have to worry about you getting bored." He smiled at her.

"Really? That would be great! It'll be lots of fun! Thanks, Dean," she said as she leaned over to hug him. She hadn't seen Dean for a while, and already he was reminding her of how much she had missed his company. "In return, I could teach you how to...Something. I don't know what yet."

*tries not to think dirty thoughts* >.>

Dean would totally hug Luna back, but his arms were secured under his burrito blanket. Instead he just rested his head on top of hers. "Maybe you can teach my how to make a cork necklace? I'm sure there's something you are amazing you can teach me."

Luna nuzzled her head against Dean's shoulder, keeping her arms wrapped around him since it was sort of keeping her warm. "I could do that. They're actually not that hard to make."

*is listening to Jump then Fall at this moment and thinks it's fitting...from Dean's perspective*

"Are you cold? Would you like to join me in the burrito blanket? It's rather toasty in here." He was trying as hard as he could to keep his thought away from anything that would get him in danger. They were just friends, and Dean needed to be okay with that.

Luna pulled back at his offer, then smiled and nodded her head. "That sounds nice," she agreed, waiting patiently for him to wrap the blanket around her. "Iv'e never been in a...burrito blanket before."

"Well! I will have to teach you to make one of your very own sometime. For now we can share." From the inside of his burrito, he started unwrapping the layers. It was a rather large blanket, so it took a little time. Eventually he finally opened up the blanket and threw one edge over Luna's shoulder. "Okay, now take that corner there, and just..twist towards me." He was trying to act nonchalant, but inside he was going like this:

Luna smiled and scooted over, getting close to Dean and helping him wrap the blanket back around the two of them. "Wow, this is warm," she commented as she snuggled close to Dean. "You'll definitely have to teach me how to make one of these before it starts getting warm out again."

"Yeah. This is cozy." In his head he was chanting JUST FRIENDS JUST FRIENDS JUST FRIENDS. "This is even easier then sketching. Dean then remembered that Valentines was coming up soon. "So, what are your plans for Valentines?"

Luna sighed and shrugged her shoulders. "Nothing. I'm not a fan of the holiday," she admitted quietly, leaning against Dean as she rested her head on his shoulder again.

He rested his head on top of hers again and sighed. "Yeah me too. I actually wanted to have like an anti Valentines day, but I didn't think many people would come. There aren't a whole lot of single people in the school. Besides us." He smiled although she couldn't see it.

Luna also smiled, and continued resting her head on Dean's shoulder. "Well, we don't need anyone else. We'll have fun on our own Anti-Valentine's day Holiday without them," she said, still smiling happily as she sat there with Dean.

"Yeah! I can have Remus bake some pies. He's awesome at that. Then we can at pie and be happy." It sounded like the perfect Valentines Day to him. "I'm just glad Lockhart isn't here anymore. If I had to sit through all the decorations he had put up around Valentines, I would probably go insane."

Luna giggled as she thought about Lockhart and Lovehart his decorations. "Oh, I remember those. He really was into all the holidays, wasn't he? Almost as much as he was into himself," she added with a slight roll of her eyes as she remembered the narcissistic teacher.

Dean nodded. "He had us write Valentines to him. It as insane. I drew a stick man out of spite. I wasn't going to make him something special. No way." He laughed a little. "So, did you want to hang on Valentines? I can maybe try and see if there's anyone else that wants to come. Unless you just want it to be use stuffing our faces with chocolate and pies. Which I'm totally cool with."

Luna laughed and shook her head. "Poor guy. Sometimes I think he was just...lonely." She shrugged it off, listening as Dean continued to talk. "Um. Okay!" It wasn't like she was planning on getting asked to the dance. No one ever asked her to those anyway. "That sounds like fun. Maybe Ginny could join us?" she suggested, thinking of her other close friend that she had known since first year.

Dean shrugs after she said Lockhart was lonely. He instantly perked up when she mentioned Ginny. "Yeah! That would be fun! Ginny is cool. She isn't dating anyone though?" That seemed strange to him, but we would love to have more people to hang with on Valentines.
