Questions?

Post  Nikki Orwell on May 30th 2010, 1:25 am

Why have we ignored this feature? I noticed there were no questions, so to make this topic feel better I am going to post some.

What is the square root of negative one?
What exactly is Arithmancy?
Why do Ron and Hermione get together? Ron was always horrible to her!

I had always picked Ron/Hermione, but from a literary perspective - they're the 'sidekicks', so to speak, so it makes sense that they'd end up together. Plus, it's the 'I make fun of you because I like you' thing... Ron is just totally clueless about how to behave around girls (that he isn't related to, that is.)

I also liked Ron/Hermione, I could never see Viktor/Hermione lasting, and Harry/Hermione was never going to happen.

I could always see the sense in Ron & Hermione. I mean, I understood how and why it happened, even if I didn't particularly like it. I know his heart was probably in the right place, but he was a complete arse to her.
[and of course, thanks to AWF, I now completely HATE it as a pairing! Laughing ]

Remione.

*is stubborn*

I've never really liked Ron/Hermione at all. Mostly because I've never liked Ronald.

I get the whole little-boy-who-doesn't-know-how-to-treat-girls syndrome, but I just don't see Hermione putting up with it. She has tremendous self-respect and self-awareness, and I just can't see her ignoring everything he's done, or justifying it with, "Well, his heart is in the right place." I knew it was coming, the foreshadowing to it was tremendous, but I can't see Hermione actually accepting Ron.

Yeah... I liked that pairing, but I always saw it that Ron was, maturity-wise, years behind Hermione, until he finally caught up.

I didn't like the pairing either, or the Ginny and Harry pairing.

Welcome to the Redundancy Department of Redundancy, how can I help you? We cover smoother sentences, use of commas, and eloquent, precise speech. Would you like a map? Next week we will proudly unveil our new Correct Use of Articles Wing!

LOL. Razz

About Ron/Hermione, I hadn't really thought about it. I think it was inevitable they were going to end up together, it's pretty obvious. In PoA, they have a really long argument that lasts most of the book. In GoF, it's more Hermione patching up Ron and Harry. In OotP, Hermione is still pretty cynical towards Ron, but they get on fine, same in HBP from what I remember. It's only in DH that Ron leaves, because of the necklace. Admittedly he was an arsehole, but he did come back, and wanted to as soon as the necklace was off. So... They didn't have any major arguments since the third year really, and in the seventh it's that she was obviously in love with him but hated him for leaving.
Oh, and in the fourth, Hermione obviously wanted Ron to ask her but he didn't, and he was jealous, thus the whole "last resort" thing, so it was still bickering because they wanted to be together.
So, I still support their shipping. But I might not once I've done more role playing Razz

Answering again to why Ron and Hermione got together becasue he was mean;

Thats, unfortunatly, how boys show they like girls. They are mean to them.

Yeah. I find it pretty funny, until it happens to me. >.>

I was thinking that it could be a magical register, like the animagi one (an assumedly the apparition one) - as soon as you are able, their name goes on there and everyone can just tell.

But HOW DO THEY BUY DRINKS IF THEY LOOK UNDERAGE? OR GET INTO A MUGGLE CLUB?

Actually *puts on math major hat*, it is true that negative numbers do not have a REAL square root. Real numbers are numbers that have a place on the number line - they can either be rational (aka they can be written in fraction form) or irrational (they can not be written in fraction form).

However, negative numbers have an IMAGINARY square root. This done using the value i. i, mathematically, is equivalent to the square root of -1. All imaginary numbers are written using i. They do not have a place on the number line, so they are not real in the sense that they have a concrete value.

So, in that sense, negative number do and do not have a square root, depending on what you consider imaginary numbers to be.
